I need to get a $1,000 private student loan to cover summer classes at the local community college I attend. My credit union nor local banks offer loans that you don't have to pay back until after graduation (defered plans), which is what I must have.

I'm reluctant to apply for a loan with an online establishment that I've never heard of due to possible scams, etc. Can anyone offer me any help as to where I could get a private student loan from a well-known, rebutable company? I'll need the loan money by April 27th. Thanks!

You should discuss with the financial aid office at the college you plan to attend. Even if the loan is done through private channels, they can provide information to you.

I think the link coldfuse linked to is a reliable source but you might have better options if you check with an advisor. Summer classes are generally added to the student aid formula... you would definitely want to make them aware of what you decide for how your student loans are calculated next year.
