hi everyone, my cat seems to be a little under the weather. Just recently, he seemed to pick up some type of parasite (probably some type of mite) so last night I went and bought some frontline plus and applied it on him. Now I noticed that his eye is irritated and there seems to be some type of liquid leaving it. He's constantly squinting. Could the two be related? Is this a possible side effect of frontline or is he just sick as well? should I go to the vet?
It's doubtful that it is a side-effect of Frontline. Probably the only way it could irritate the eye is if it got directly into the eye. But Frontline is applied behind the head at the nape of the neck to prevent the cat from getting to it. And if eye irritation was a side-effect from the medicine being absorbed transdermally, then it would affect both eyes.
You should definately take your cat to the vet. The fact that it's just one eye affected leads me to believe it could be something like a scratched cornea. Best to have a professional look at him and treat him quickly. In doing so, you could be avoiding more severe eye-problems.
Good Luck-
