Last winter I gave a friend an almost-full package of Advantage because my cat got sick after I treated him and I blamed Advantage.

She called me today to check the correct dosage. I don't have a thing left to consult - I think I gave her the enclosure in the box. I don't remember what the dosage was. It's not posted on the Advanttage site, and they didn't reply to my email.

Her cats weigh: (1) 9 pounds
(2) almost 11 pounds.

Can anyone help me?

The dosage is the complete vial of liquid. Pop the vial open and squeeze the liquid on the back of the neck. It should be used once a month. Hope this helps.

it is the full tube per kitty - - and ALOT of cats get very sick from it. Unless the cat goes outside constantly, it's better not to use it really...

Yes, I warned her, but her cats had no previous bad effects from using it before. By the way, do you know why going outside seems to help, Lydia?

I use Revolution for my cat. I used Frontline Top Spot for a couple of years but I like Revolution better. It's actually a little cheaper and it treats almost everything - fleas, ticks, worms, heartworms, etc.

I don't know how well-tolerated it is for certain cats - mine hasn't had any problems with any of them though.

PS - My cat is so big, the vet switched him to the dog dosage - they said it would work the same.

I will try Revolution on Tino if the active ingredient is different from that in Advantage. Tino catches mice, rats, voles, squirrels and birds, and is probably loaded with parasites. Thanks, Tex.

Bab - - going outside doesn't help, but makes it more necessary to use something. If inside, the cat has a low probability of getting fleas and other parasites (cause the access is limited). When the cat goes outside alot, the probability increases and the need outweighs the risk of using the product. Parasites and fleas can wreak havock so it's better to prevent...

(I was thinking, what, if the cat is using Advantage and spends time in the fresh air maybe he can handle Advantage better? Wow! I'm a doofus!)
