Sice my last post on my kitty, I found that she is NOT pregnant! She has been thru a few heats since then. My new question is this- she has begun to eventually get A LOT louder when she is in heat! Is this normal? And is there any natural way I can relieve her anxiety and screaming fits? Would distraction help, or must I continue listening to her till we can afford to spay her? It also seems she is in heat once a week- is this normal? Thanks! Skye.
I'm not sure if there is any natural way to calm your kitty while in heat but if you call a vet and ask them they should be able to answer your question over the phone. You may want to call a holistic vet. Also if the cost of having her spayed is a little much for you ask your vet if they do low cost spaying. If not call around and even try the shelter. Some vets volunteer to do a low cost spaying program with local shelters or the shelters do the low cost spaying themselves. When I worked at a vet we did low cost spaying...there were only so many applications allowed per quarter. The owners would fill out an application and once approved they would only pay about $20 for the cat to be spayed. Not all vets do it so you may have to look around.
