what can i do about my cats dandruf?? she gets it in the winter, and its fine my about mid may, but we have a friend who is allergic to cats and i would like to stop her dandruf if i could so he dosent sneeze so much when hes here. id really rather not give her a bath, she hates me enough as it is is there something i can rub into her fur? i give her a bit of margarine every week too add oil to her diet, and it makes her coat nice and shiny but dosent seem to do anything about the dandruf. any suggestions?
Yep, you can buy some kitty wipes, they carry these at your local grocery in the pet section or try PetSmart. They look like a large diper wipe only they are formulated for kitty, they remove dander and excess hair. Our kitty likes when I use these on him, he doesn't seem to mind that it makes him damp, he also likes to be blown dry afterwards, but the wipes are made to dry quickly even without the hair dryer.
Double thanks Kitty! I've noticed my cat has recently been getting huge dandruff flakes - not so pretty on black fur. I've talked to my vet about it but while the condition is harmless it sure is distracting looking! Never have seen the wipes tho...can't wait to go looking for them!

I'm going to post a URL to a question about Dandruff in Dogs that I answered - the same information would apply to cats. It was in response to Ewood and he also commented that the suggestion of adding cod liver oil to the diet helped.....give it a read... http://www.answerpool.com/groupee/forums?a=tpc&s=669605981&f=303603602&m=6966036591
Thanks Lydia. Shadow does eat a cod liver oil/mineral oil/vaseline/mollasses combo. YUCK! It comes in a toothpaste type container and is suppose to be for fur balls. But it does have the oils in it. Hasn't helped the skin condition tho!
