Not sure why, but our female cat has taken to relieving herself on my daughters clothes that are on the floor of her room.
Near as I can find, the best way to take care of the laundry issue is to wash with baking soda in the wash cycle, and add a little white vinegar in the rinse cycle. I really hope it works....
But wanted to put the question out there in case anyone else had ever had this problem before and how you solved it
Giz....does kitty use the litter box when her clothes are not on the floor or does he/she find another place? If it's only her clothes my uneducated guess is he likes her scent and is putting his/hers on the clothes too..OR..he really doesn't like her, lol!!! If kitty IS going in other places other than the litter maybe it's a new litter....the litter pan is in a new place? The food/water dishes are located too near the litter pan? Have you recently moved? Is your daughter new in the house? Many things can disturb kitty's habits....kitty may have a bladder infection? If it is just her stuff on the floor try just having her NOT leave the clothes on the floor and see if it stops, if not take the cat to the vet and see if there might be an uderlying cause. Good luck!!!
Kittypal, yes we have recently moved, and although Gizmo seems VERY happy here, I think she's just trying to adapt to the new space.
I keep the litter box clean, but my daughter, unfortunately, doesn't keep her ROOM very clean.
Near as I can tell, it's only the daughters room that has been affected. (I told her that maybe THIS will convince her to clean the place up )
I'm sure that it's just Gizmo's way of marking her new territory - she really IS a very good cat, so it's surprised us that she's been doing this.
I'm trying the baking soda/vinegar cure today while doing laundry. I plan on putting all affected clothes thru at least two washings...hopefully it helps
Ami - yes, I've been trying to tell her this (the kid, not the cat)....now that she's been scared into thinking some of her clothes have been RUINED, maybe it'll help.
Oh, the baking soda and vinegar worked wonders...lucky for the daughter!
