My cat, approx. 12 years old, about an 8 pound neutered male, had some major surgery on his front leg last January to repair the shattered bones in his front leg caused by a dog attack, right at the knee joint.
The vet. surgeon told me before doing the surgery that my cat would almost definitely develop arthritis, and I think he has. He simply won't jump, and his gait is very awkward, so I am sure he is at least experiencing some discomfort in his leg.
Anyway, checking around on the net I find that aspirin is a no-no for cats, but I did find one site that said that fish-oil and Vitamin E might relieve the pain for an arthritic cat. However there were no details as far as how much to give and when.
Anybody have any experience with an arthritic kitty? Any help at all would be appreciated!!
I should note that my cat has only one front leg, so this is really debilitating for him.

We used to have a dog with arthritis and gave her Glucosamine in her food. We used the liquid version as it was obviously easier to give. Have a read at this.
Watch what you give cats! Ask your vet for advice on any pain killer. Glucosamine does not help with pain. From my understanding, it works as an anti-imflamitory only. It will not help your cats pain.
Ask your vet what is reasonable to give a cat. This isn't the usual problem for them, just dogs.
