The jerk, oh, I meant the vet did not want to prescribe the Albon to me because the coccidia did not show on the parasite screen. But most of the time it is not easily detectable.
I mean you tell me what you think. I got a pup, with Coccidia, which is transmittable to cats, especially kittens. The dog defecates or defecated on the kitchen tile, where the cats walk, following the clean themselves, i.e. liking their paws.
Three, four days ago, I noted that Apollo and Jupiter had soft stools, so I gave the whole bunch Kaopactate (like you have told me in the past). But it did not help. Now this morning, Apollo and Jupiter just so happened to be in my bedroom to which I closed the door at 5:45AM and that at 7:15AM, I got a whiff of something awful, of course diarrhea. Jupiter could not hold it, poor baby. When I looked, it was pure water, with blood in it. CLEAR SIGN OF COCCIDIA!
So I called another vet this morning for whom I have treated with in the past and told him the entire story and he prescribed me Albon for me.
I think the jerk vet is annoyed with me because I was right and he was wrong. I told he I wanted to treat the cats to prevent the coccidia since there was a chance it could be transmitted to my kittens and he told me it was not necessary. When I called yesterday and said my kittens had the coccidia and I just wanted a prescription for the Albon and I gave his secretary all the details, he came back and told her to tell me highly unlikely they would have it and it is probably stress related because of the dog. That is not the case. I have had the dog 2-3 weeks already, why would they get the diarrhea now? Consider this incubation for Coccidia is 12 days. Right about the time they are all starting to show signs of it!
I am going to go home today, get my prescription, clean the house with bleach, steam clean the carpet, and the kitty litter and lysol the entire house.
