Has anyone tried the cat litter that looks like little clear pearls? It is supposed to absorb instantly and doesn't need to be changed all the time. I'm a bit afraid the kitties may not like it. **************************************************** 07-25-02, 12:05 AM Lydia it's not worth it.....you will have to change it more frequently than they say. Works OK for one...
07-25-02, 08:10 AM silver85 I tried that. I didn't really work too well and it smelt kind of bad too. My cat didn't like it much either. I bought this huge bag of it, and I couldn't really do anything with it. Just a waste of money. So even if you try it, buy just a small bag first to test it.
07-25-02, 09:19 AM kittypal Thanks guys, I think I'll stick with the regular, I change it every day anyway. big grin
07-25-02, 09:50 AM Georgia85 Have you tried the scoopable litter? I like Tidy Cat. And it's very economical. Although you scoop every day you leave behind the majority of the litter. There is no smell and it lasts a long time too. There are also Tidy Cat and Scoop Away brands you might look into.
07-25-02, 09:56 AM Lydia I get the big bucket of PetGold at PetCo and I just scoop as well.....makes it so much easier. The PetGold is one of the more "dustless" ones I've tried (and I think I've pretty much tried everything). Doesn't smell bad either...
07-25-02, 04:48 PM kittypal I have tried the scoopable, but Jerry will make a meal of it, he sits outside the box and eats like it's his dinner, very strange. I use Fresh Step and every time one of them goes, I try to scoop out all the wet usually it clumps good enough to get most of it out. I go through about 75lbs a month though so a cheaper one would be better. big grin
07-25-02, 09:33 PM Wildflower63 I'm a big fan of Tidy Cat scoopable litter as well. I have never had a problem with odor. I think it is probably cheaper than the regular litter. You only throw away the used stuff that clumps together for easy removal.

You can save a ton of money and do less work if you want to.
If you buy regular cat litter & use a scoop to remove the solids every day, you don't have to go to the expense and trouble of changing the whole box every day. This plan really cuts down the smell. I was amazed.
You can change only once or twice a week.
We use non-clumping Fresh Step. Two cats share one large litter box.

Just how many cats do you have? Man, I have one inside cat and then outside cats and kittens that use their own litter box - but even still it takes me a few months to go through a 35 lb tub!
07-26-02, 01:56 PM kittypal 1 cat and 1 kitten, I'm a bit of a clean freak and everytime one of the cats goes to the john the other one has to go too, I must scoop out the box 8-10 times a day. The Fresh Step seems to be about the best one, even though it's not scoopable, if I get it right away I can scoop out most of the wet and leave quite a bit of the untouched in the box. However if I wait even a little while both of them won't leave the unclean liter alone, they have to try and bury it forever which spreads it all over the place. Maybe I should just learn to chill.
