I was telling a friend about how great this site was and that I had been to the cat forum several times. I mentioned that one of the threads was about names and she told me about a cousin who named her cat PITA which stood for Pain In The A**. I thought that was hysterical! Smile

My cat's name is Tasha. I didn't pick the name, my ex girlfriend named her. I'm not very good at naming animals anyway. I probably would have picked something lame like Mittens.

LOL mommy to four cats. PITA is an expression that we use at our work place quite a bit! Big Grin

My daughter has four cats. Her first one was a gift on Valentines Day from her fiancé, now husband. She named her Lucy. When my daughter was at work, I'd go to her apartment to cat sit. Lucy would hear me put the key in the lock, and as I'd open the door, she'd stick her nose through the crack of the door. So I started calling her Nose. Years later, and no matter how long it has been since I've seen her, when I say "Nose," she comes running, knowing I'm there.

Well..I have 5 cats.It seems somehow even if you give them a name when you get them it just does not stick lol.One of my Siamese's names it TY (he was one of her kittens from a litter and she gave him to my daughter)she named him Ty after Ty Pennington from Trading Spaces because she thought he was cute...then we have Smudge who is now known as Fatboy or Fatcat (he answers to both)we gave him the name Smudge because when he was a baby he was pure white with a lack smudge between his ears...it has since disappeared.lol Then there is Stinker Lou..when she was a kitten and the kids would pick her up and she didnt want to be held she would...well...let off the gas if you know what I mean lol.Our 2 latest additions dont have stories behind thier names for some reason or another..they are Bella and Meeko. Big Grin

My cat Rhino.

I named him that because of his ENORMOUS nose. We know he's half Siamese and we think the other half may be Turkish Van. Enjoy!

My cats' names were Jay and Silent Bob. Unfortunately, we only have SB left, so it's not nearly as funny as it used to be.

I am now mommy to Fred and George, named for the Weasley twins in the Harry Potter books. My mother in law adopted a cousin of my baby boys' and named her Hermione.

Ah, my dear Irish mother took in one of the farm cats, as a kitten, to be a house cat. She called it 'Cat'. When the queen had her first kittens and my mother kept one back for the house she had to find a name for it. Plainly she couldn't call it something as obvious as Cat again, because there already was 'Cat'. So she called it 'Kitten'. Happily she stuck at just one kitten in the house or she'd probably have been calling the next ones 'Kitten Minor', 'Kitten Minimus' and so on, in the manner of English schoolmasters with younger brothers of pupils (only surnames were used so they had to use suffixes for the younger ones )

Both Cat and Kitten lived to a great age ( I think 20). There was something a little strange about calling 'Kitten' to a cat of 15 or more Big Grin

I named my oldest cat "Shadow" after the song "Shadow Dancing" by Andy Gibb. Andy had just died the previous year and I had the biggest crush on him and that was my favorite song. Shadow was born during a lunar eclipse and it wasn't until 10 years later when I was telling someone the origin of his name that I made another connection...lunar eclipse...shadow...duh!
