How does your cat react to an annoying fly, a crawling roach, and the like?

All three of my mom's cats react the same way: they stalk them and if they happen to catch one, eat them like they would a bird or a mouse.

Cat 1. Attacks and eats
Cat 2. Watches, with a lazy, fat expression
Cat 3. Attacks, ineffectivly, and never manages to get the extra snack...

A few months after I got Gremlin, a tree roach got into the house. Gremlin immediately pounced on it and commenced chewing!

When I got closer to see what he had, he growled at me and ran off, like I was gonna fight him for it!
As if!

(You caught it, you earned it, you eat it!)

Jesse, on the other hand, likes to play with her "food"!

Jerry will NOT leave it alone until it is caught, in his mouth and spit back out, he will persue it for hours if he has to.

Lucy gets bored after a few minutes!!!

Ever found just the legs of a spider or centepede?? EWWW!!!

Hope chases it until he catches it. He then kills it, and carries it to my room and sets it on my floor, as if to brag about his prowess as a hunter. Ew.

Of course, being the good owner I am, I pat him on the head, tell him he's a good cat, and give him a treat for his trouble after disposing of the dead bug. It's gross, man, just gross.

If there's a bug on the wall, my cats (2) will sit and watch it for hours! I know they're hoping the insect will find it's way down the wall so they can catch it!

It doesn't take alot to amuse a cat, and this gives them something to do during the day, not to mention they help keep my home pest free! big grin

Lydia (the cat, not me wink likes to watch them fly or crawl around - not much interest. The only exception is a moth - if it's a moth, she thinks "NOW YOU'RE TALKING!!".

A Moth she will jump up at - swat, chirp, cry and then catch it between her front paws - after which she throws it to the ground - she'll lift one paw just to see if she got it. If it's still flying around, she'll let it go and start all over again. If it looks like it's almost "done" - she'll lift the one paw, catch it into her mouth - throw her head up in the air and start chewing - - - - MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM MOTHS!!!

Then she looks at me like "got anymore"???
