I was sorting thru some laundry yesterday when I heard the dog’s carrying on outside so I went out to investigate to see what all the fuss was about and they had this poor wee kitten cornered with the momma nearby trying to rescue it. After a few minutes, I was able to get the dogs locked up in the house and then went to go check on the kitten. I got hold of the kitten and we took it to the vet. The vet said she was ok and that she was in good health.
I had seen a litter of newborn kittens about oh...3 maybe 4 weeks ago and was able to monitor them for awhile till she moved them somewhere else. The cat had 3 kittens. This one is a little girl, tabby, friendly and very, very nosy, lol. Which explains how she ended up in the predicament yesterday.
The vet said she was old enough to be eating solid food. They sent me home with some dry food and she made attempts to eat it, but no dice, so I tried soaking it real good. She didn’t like that. So this morning, we took her back to the vets office and they sent us home with the directions to pick up milk replacer for kittens at petsmart. I picked up a bottle and an eyedropper as well just in case we might need it.
Problem
Years ago when I raised pug puppies, the nipples on the bottles we bought already had a hole but this bottle came with 4 nipples that have to be punctured. So I heated up a good sized needle and punctured 3 holes in one of the nipples. To my dismay, no milk is coming thru even when the bottle is squeezed. We did get some milk down her with an eyedropper which she is not thrilled with.
My question is.....If I take a pair of scissors and snip a small X on the end will she get too much milk at one time and choke? She is pretty tiny. She weighs 13 oz.

Awww, piggins...How sweet....When we got our other kitty Tommy he was really small and was sick and we also had to feed him with a bottle, my mom DID cut a very small x into the nipple and Tommy was fine....If it makes too much milk come through you could try using a nut pisk if you have one or a larger needle like a hat pin or a pin from a broach or something and see it that works. Good luck and keep us posted....Congrats on your new kitty...You are a good person to take her in.
Piggins I too had to bottle feed my Church. I got him when he was only 2 weeks old. I had to cut the tip of the bottle with scissors and he did fine. He actually only started eating solid food after watching one of my other cats eat it. I guess my Charlie taught him how to eat solid food. Maybe if one of your other cats will tolerate her right now they could help.
