Nope- Nothing unusual at all, in my experience. At this age, kittens generally have 2 settings (and very appropriate settings, in this case): Standby- In this mode they sleep, preen, eat and snuggle. Full Throttle: Climbing, stalking, pouncing, shredding, exploring and general mayhem...the early development of hunting skills.
It was this "all or nothing" aspect of feline nature that inspired me to adopt 2 kittens to ascend to the throne vacated by my beloved Mr. Whittens. I figured they could stalk and assault each other instead of my innocent ankles

Exactly. I had a visitor the other day and he and I were sitting in the living room. Suddenly a look of shocked amazement crossed his face. S. had crept up and was climbing his leg. Everest or bust! Those tiny needle claws are really sharp!

Yes it's good to be back among old friends. I'm not seeing people yet except my children and very close friends and my phone is on record. But A/P is do-able, and comforting too.
By the way, the odd color of the driveway (upper right quadrant) in the 'stumped' photo above is Douglas Fir flowers, which drop by the million at this time of year. And track into the house.

Brings back memories from long ago. When I was 15 we got a kitten at the Humane Society. The next day my mom was making breakfast, dressed in her ubiquitous nightgown. The kitten climbed up her bare leg. I'm surprised we didn't make a trip back to the Humane Society that day.

I pick up the little white stuffed kitten toy and place it as if it's whispering in my ear, Standby all eyes, of course, and I tell Standby that the kitten said Standby is a wimp and couldn't fight his way out of a wet paper bag. Then I toss the white kitten along the floor. This is the result.
But eventually this is what happens when the energy runs out: TPTP

He has a 'catch and release' policy, it seems. He seldom eats them. He likes to keep them alive. He'll bring in a grsasshopper and maybe because it spits 'tobacco' and tastes funny, he won't eat it. Or maybe because it's more fun alive. Anyhow, I find the little things all over the house, trying to find their way out.
Oh well, he'll be a formidable hunter some day.

My cats are both indoors but when the see a fly or spider they become jungle hunters....they don't eat their catches either...I feel sorry for the bugs they do catch...they play with them until they die.
Standby now knows what he wants to be when he grows up -- an acoustic systems engineer. Here he is in stealth mode, trying to sneak up on the soundwaves: They're in here somewhere...
And speaking of animals, the bear has now raided the red plum, the greengage, the Prima apple and the Bartlett Pear. But he's an honest bear. He leaves donations toward the fertility of next year's crop. Here.

Babs, wouldn't you s*** yourself and run away, if some crazy lady had just thrown a full can of Campell's soup at you?
