My best friend has three kittens (all of the same litter) which she took in as strays. There are many generations of stray cats in her neighborhood, and of course these kittens are products of the "herd." They're almost a year old now, but are only a little larger than kittens! I know that cats reach their full size in about a year, but these kitties are so tiny to be a year old!

Her vet said not to worry because since they come from generations of strays, their parents and distant relatives were probably smaller than the average cats. The kitties are healthy and everything, but it's just weird! Has anyone else had an experience with such small cats? I'm just curious to see how common this is... they're like little "midget" cats! Smile

I've known several "pygmy" cats... cute as buttons and as healthy and active as their larger cousins.

My daughter's cat "Cubby", was acquired as a kitten 1-1/2 years ago, and she never grew any larger than about a 6-month old cat. She is just as cute as can be! Weird too, her mom and dad are both full size cats - I guess it just happens sometimes.

Some cats just don't weigh that much. If the vet says they are healthy, I wouldn't worry about it. The cat I had growing up never got much above five pounds, and she lived to be eighteen.

Out of my 5 cats, little Annie is just that. She's the smallest of all - but the purring is deafening! She's a doll.
