Why does my cat roll about in dust and sand outside when its sunny?

I've determined that my cat does this to irritate me. She rolls all over the dusty patio and then strolls into the house, walking around on the furniture and leaving her little dust trail behind. Big Grin

Seriously though, I don't know why they do this. Maybe the sand in their fur somehow rubs against their skin and it feel good.

Who knows .... sounds like another question for Mother Nature.

Thanks Tree. Guess I'll just keep sweeping up after Jinx. I've been doing it for 18 years so far, so I can't imagine she's got too many years left to enjoy her sand baths. I'll let her bask in her pleasure to her heart's content Wink
