Like in a mirror? I meant my original post about cats and dogs and mirrors to start a new thread, but I clicked on the wrong button. My thanks to Tree and Kittypal for their responses, and my apology for obtruding this question in the thread about "pampering" cats, where it clearly doesn't really belong.
I'm starting this new thread because I'm really as curious as any cat about how cats behave toward mirror images of themselves. Kittypal and Tree have indicated that their cats just sort of ignore them. Tree says that my "study" may not have been sound, and that is very possibly right. The aversion response I got may well have been an artifact of my procedure. I suspect that in trying hard to get the cats to look at themselves I may have been somewhat ungentle in the way I held them up in front of the mirror.
But so far we all seem to agree, at least, that cats make very little sense out of mirror images. Why is that? I think this is a very interesting subject. Any other people who've made observations about it?

My Mother's cat saw herself in a mirror once and walked up to it slowly, cautiously and then hissed. When she made a swipe at the "other cat" - - she suddenly realized that there was no other cat - - so she walked away - - never to look in the mirror again.
My old cat (Callicat) liked looking at herself in the mirror that I bought her her own little cheval mirror that sat next to her bed.....she used to stare at it all the time. My cat now - -doesn't notice...
