My first question is: I have a two year old cat who never leaves the house, has been fixed and is healthy. We give him Revolution once a month even though he stays in the house. Now don't misunderstand me, I have no problem taking good care of my animals, but are the yearly shots and check-ups absolutely necessary, I mean what can he catch in the house? Of course if he ever appeared sick I would rush him to the vet, but he's a nightmare to put in the carrier and the last time I had him at the vet he came home and stayed under the couch for the rest of the day.

Next Question: The same cat has taken to peeing on the shoes in our closet, I know, keep the closet door closed, that's not the problem, the problem is I have tired two different products from the grocery store to eliminate the smell and nothing is really working, can anyone suggest something that they have used that really works. Sorry, I'm sure this question has been asked about a million times.

1) Why do you give your cat Revolution once a month if he doesn't go outside? Do you have other pets who may bring fleas inside? If the answer to that is no, I'd stop the Revolution. There is simply no need. The risk of getting fleas is lower than the risk of your cat getting sick from the flea prevention.

As for bringing your cat in for yearly examinations...I would recommend that you do it, simply to check the overall health of the cat and for the vet be able to detect things early. Other than the required rabies shot (I think it's every few years), I do not vaccinate - I believe the potential for an animal to get sick FROM the vaccination is greater than the potential to get various diseases - especially since my cats are indoor cats. A visit to the vet once a year resulting in the cat being afraid for one day isn't a big deal!

2) You have asked a good question that I don't think anyone, anywhere, has a REAL answer for. The scent of cat urine lasts FOREVER it seems!!! One thing to try is to mix vinegar and water and totally saturate the area...rinsing with cold water (after the vinegar has dried). Most of the products you purchase for this purpose really mask the odor and only remove it temporarily. If you have carpeting in that area, it is possible that the odor may never be removed. Although you may not smell it - because of the strong sense of smell a cat has, they CAN still smell it.

Revolution also prevents heartworms carried by mosquitos. A mosquito might get inside and bite the cat.

Good point Dixie - I knew Revolution was for ticks and fleas, but I had no idea about the mosquitos. I know that heartworm in cats is pretty uncommon, but there is no treatment as there is for dogs, so that is definitely not a bad idea!!

Besides fleas, ticks and heartworms, Revolution also prevents ear mites, roundworm and hookworm in cats.
I've used other products (including Frontline), but I think Revolution works the best.
