Coke has a new commercial on TV promoting their refrigerator pack with the plastic bottles. The commercial has been changed recently.

The commercial opens with a teenage boy opening the refrigerator and seeing the new Coke 12 pack in the 'frig. He opens one and takes several swallows. Then he starts filling his pants pockets with the 12 ounce plastic bottles. His sister, who is off camera, says 'Save me one'.

Here is the change. In the original, the boy takes several swallows out of the last coke, spits some back in the bottle and replaces the bottle in the empty 'frig pack. The new version had the boy taking the swallows out of the last bottle, shaking it up, and replacing it.

Why was this commercial changed? Was there public pressure about the 'backwash'? Did some 'sister's rights' group threaten to sue? Personal opinion is welcome but I'm curious about the real reason.

I didn't find anything in a web search, but, perhaps, they got complaints from some viewers about the little boy spitting coke back into the bottle. Perhaps some viewers may have thought this might set a bad example and give some children "ideas" to try it out on their own siblings, or friends.

It's just the sort of thing, in my opinion, that a young child might find humorous, and might even try. It's something that they might not have thought of doing until they saw it.

I would guess it was pulled because it was in poor taste; most 8th grade bathroom-humor generally is in pretty poor taste. And most 8th graders just love this sort of thing.
