Well, I`m 19(male), and don`t know much about it, but I`ve heard that kidney stones are more painful than a woman`s pregnancy pains. I`m not asking if that`s true, but it`s enough for me to get the idea that it`d be painful. I just want to know what causes them, and what I can do to make sure that I never get them. Also, if someone could give me a somewhat detailed explanation on them. For example, how long it lasts, what the symptoms are, etc. I don`t want to find out exactly how painful it is! Also, if you have any experience with it; some insight on your experience would also be appreciated.

it's true that passing a kidney stone can be very painful. There are many reasons why people get them; often it has to do with disorders of calcium metabolism. I think you'll find this site has lots more and more specific info than the one in the previous answer.
