When I go for my check up and the doctor presses on my stomach it hurts could it be scar tissue? I have had my gallbladder out and a tubalication, Vaginal Hystarectomy and D & C's. I had a c scan and nothing showed up. Could this be scar tissue, I also have pain in legs arms back just about everywhere on trigger points.

Depends a bit on what you mean by scar tissue. An incision is a scar, and some incisions can remain tender. By "scar tissue," some people mean "adhesions," which refers to the adherence of things within the belly that before having surgery were all slippery and shiny and slithered around without tethering. That kind of scar tissue can cause intestinal blockage, which is a pretty specific pattern of cramps, bloating, vomiting. Tenderness without any of those other things is pretty unlikely to be due to "scar tissue" of that sort. Having tenderness all over, with trigger points, is what some people call "fibromyalgia." It probably exists, but is -- in my less-than-expert-on-the-subject opinion -- way overdiagnosed.

Pardon me for the presumptuousness of trespassing in your territory, sid, but my sister-in-law, who suffers severe symptoms associated with it, had trouble finding a doctor who believed it actually existed.

Well, I do think it's overdiagnosed, and remains controversial to a degree. It's a convenient diagnosis for inexplicable pains. A rheumatologist that I respect (except for his tax-avoiding schemes) believes it exists, but is fairly stringent in the criteria for making the diagnosis. It seems to slop over into chronic fatigue syndrome. Depression is a frequent accompaniment (chicken, or egg?). And, adding strongly to my skepticism: chiropracters love making the diagnosis. I'm just sayin'...

I sometimes feel miserable from head to toe on days when the pollen count is high. So I lower the windows. Then, I feel better. Try to discover what's different about your environment, diet, habits, etc. when you feel achy.
