I had a cold settle in the lungs a week or so ago and lately I have been coughing up phlegm (yellowish yuck) with a few spots of clotted blood.

As some of you know I have other health issues and presently am on chemotherapy. I find that anemia is part and parcel with why I am on chem-o.

I was told by doctor to be careful of bleeding. I do not view this as bleeding since its just spots (not that many either).

Is this something I should seek immediate medical attention for or can it wait for Wednesday next (2-21)?

David, I'm certainly not a doctor, but a phone call tomorrow seems to make sense. Call early, and you should hear back from the doctor's office by the end of the day.

You may hear from a health care professional (in here) before tomorrow, but if you don't, pleae make the call.

I'm no doctor but blood in the phlegm would cause me to call my doctor. Especially if your immune system is already battling chemotherapy.

It seems like anything is serious enough to merit a call or a visit when undergoing chemotherapy.

Since none of the medical kind of people chimed in I'll just go to docs

Isn't it awful that David feels from experience that he has to go not to one doc but to "docs"? I am just giving him the opening for when he returns with complaints about the docs.

Well DVD,
Don’t know what type of cancer you have or what treatment, but if your doctor told you that there might be some bleeding as a complication, you should view the blood tinged phlegm as a warning and call him and explain it. This may not be any significant bleeding, but if you hadn’t been doing this routinely and it is something new it is important. It could be telling you that something needs to be checked, so call your doctor and let him or her know.

I'm special, I have many doctors, rheumatologist, orthopedics, neurologist, GP, Oncologist... And a few others... So yes I consult with doctors (plural).

I'm to tired to complain anymore.
