A friend of my father's has Crohn's disease, and recently had surgery for it. My father didn't tell me too much about the disease, but I had a theory and I was just wondering if it's been tried or if it would work or something.

What if the patient was given an antibiotic of some sort, to trick the body into thinking, "Well, something is fighting my "ilness," I don't have to work anymore." A sort of placebo for the disease. Get what I'm saying? Is it stupid.. haha, I'm just throwing it out there.

BandaiJ, some patients are already being given antibiotics for crohn disease but I don't know if it tricks the body or not. If it did and really worked, it wouldn't be stupid.

Your Father's friend must have had a severe case of Crohn, and he probably had a Colectomy. Some people are reluctant to having surgery because surgery doesn't cure it, and since it can return, I think people should really weigh the benefits to see if it's better than other treatments.

I hope your Father's friend is doing okay.
