well my doctor told me yesterday that i might have lupus as well as rhumatoid arthritis.
i have some more tests to do and more waiting.
does anyone know of any good sites about lupus?
do you know anyone with it and how do they cope?
any other advice would be great. that way, if i do have it, i will be prepared, and if i dont, well then yay.
i would talk to my doctor about it, but they are all mean and cranky and want only to be out playing golf here. except one. my docotr. but hes on vacation right now. we kind of get the last pick here, and the ones that are good dont get to stay long for various resons.
just an example of the manners of the doctors here:
i went to the emergecy room a few weeks ago due to a flare up. i was in serious pain. i wanted something to make the pain stop. i didnt care what.
when the doctor came in he asked what i had taken, and i told him nothing because i have tried all over the counter pain meds before and they dont work when i get a flare, so i didnt bother shoving more drugs into my system that wouldnt do squat.
he then asked why i didnt have any prescription ones and i told him because i ran out and havent been able to see my rhumatologist for a refill.
he then told me that 'this is not the way to manage arthritis. go home. call your rhumatologist in the morning and make an appointment with her. here is a prescription for some t-3s and an anti inflamitory'. then he walked out.
i went home and cried and cried from the pain. i could not fill the prescription because the 2 drugstores here arent open after 9 o clock, and i was in the hospital around 9:30.
when i talked to the pharmasist the next day, it turned out the anti inflamatory the doctor prescribed said right, #1, on the list of alerts, do not take if you are allergic to celebrex. which i am. which i told the doctor.
and he should have known.
so i made an appointment to get my prescription changed and he got mad because i wanted it changed!!!!
he told me i should have informned him about my allergy, when it is right on my chart that i told both him and the nurse.!!
jerk.
and hes one of the better doctors here.
sorry about ranting, but im still mad about it.
and now i have to deal with more doctors that are cranky and mean over something a lot more serious than a flare up.
Mad Frown

t3 I am assuming you are talking about Tylenol #3? What does Celebrex have to do with that medication? With t3, you have to worry about an intolerance for either Tylenol or codeine. You should be on an something to help with inflammation too. They take weeks to take effect.

I can't tell you a whole lot about lupis. I do know that the immune system attacks its own good tissue. A lot of times it is bone at the joints. That requires surgical replacement of the joints. There are other problems with lupis.

Nurses, help!!!!

I know a young girl (16) who was diagnosed with Lupus, which is a very young age to have this disease. I do not know much about it, but did find a site that has some information that may be helpful to you - it has an overview, treatment options as well as a section for "newly diagnosed". I hope that your diagnosis is good, but if you want to read some information, this may be helpful.

I don't really know the whole extent of the symptoms of lupus but my aunt has it. I know she takes a whole lot of meds but other than that, she lives a normal life. She has the type that affects the organs. She did have to have a kidney transplant a few years ago but she takes her meds and has no problems with it now.
I know this isn't much help but I wanted you to know that you can live a normal life with this.
Good luck with the tests!

sorry. i should have been more clear on that.
the doctor prescribed something that you muct not take under any condition if you are alregic to celebrex. which i am. this was for the inflamation. the t3s were his form of pain relief, but nothing was done for me for that ngiht.
