If the lump is in the scrotum above the testicle, it could be his normal epididymus, or a benign cyst or other growth. If he's worried he should see his doctor or get a referral to a urologist. If the lump is in the groin, where thigh meets lower abdomen, it's often an enlarged lymph node. Causes range widely from some kind of infection or injury in the leg to (less likely) cancer.
