ok here's the deal I had a hemroid flair up last auguest. It never bled at all and after three weeks of over the counter meds and ice packs it went away fully.

Yesterdday I had a very hard stool and it poped out once again only this time there is a small pinsized hole and minor blood is flowing from the spot. The hemroids is in the exact same spot as before.

How long should it take to get the bleeding under control? A week? Longer? I have already started the fiber high diet over again and the ice packs and oinentments. Just wondering if bleeding hemroids t heal?

Can not go to a doctor as I have no insurence, must do home treatment.

Hemorrhoids are large blood vessels located in the rectum, anal canal and peri-anal tissues. These dilated blood vessels usually cause pain and bleeding. In general there are two types of hemorrhoids.

The first is external hemorrhoids. External hemorrhoids cause pain and bleeding. When a external hemorrhoid has a blood clot lodged within it, a thrombosed external hemorrhoid is present. Patients should seek medical evaluation with within 72 hours of this occurrence. It is during this period of time that removal of the blood clot, with simple surgical techniques, may improve their symptoms dramatically. After 72 hours, the blood clot becomes more established and is less likely to improve the situation if removed.

Internal hemorrhoids are the second type of hemorrhoids and are located within the rectum. These do not cause pain since the inside of the rectum and the GI tract do not have nerve endings. Thus, internal hemorrhoids cause variable amounts of bleeding but not pain. On occasion, external hemorrhoids may protrude (prolapse) into the anal canal and to the outside of the GI tract. If this occurs, surgical evaluation is strongly recommended. In general, dietary changes and simple outpatient techniques such as banding can manage internal hemorrhoids.

Hemorrhoids are like vericose veins of the rectum. They can't really go away, but you can manage to minimize the problems they cause. My suggestion, do not alter your high fiber diet again, drink lots of water, eat fruit and veggies (but not the kinds with seeds or don't digest well).

This site has some good information.. it IS a site that is run by Metamucil, but you can ignore the advertising.

I'd suggest warm soaks in a tub rather than ice at this point. The oozing could go on for several days, but likely doesn't represent active bleeding: the swelling is from bleeding and subsequent clot formation, and when it's oozing, it's usually just evacuating the clot that's already there. There's some risk of the clot getting infected if it's just a pinhole opening, which is why heat is better: it helps drainage. As long as it doesn't swell more, get more painful, or start producing pus, you'll likely be fine with home remedies.

The main issue with rectal bleeding is being sure of the diagnosis. Dripping from a hemorrhoid, while not good if it goes on and on, is much less significant than bleeding from various other conditons. So it's important to be checked to be sure what's going on.

I think sherasi meant to say prolapsed internal hemorrhoid rather than prolapsed external hemorrhoid. A bleeding external hemorrhoids usually occurs when a thrombosed external hemorrhoid ruptures and one gets a nice pain relief. This is mostly a clot evacuation and is the one the doctor does an I&D in the office and cures a grateful patient of a lot of pain.
A prolapsed internal hemorrhoid may or may not have a clot in it, but if it ruptures or is torn and bleeds it is less likely to stop bleeding. The hemorrhoid prolapsed outside of the sphincter muscle and the sphincter muscle keeps a constriction somewhat like a garter would do on a bleeding varicose vein.
If it is an internal hemorrhoid that is prolapsed, take your finger or use a glove and some topical medicine i.e (pramasone 2.5%) and push the prolapse back inside where it belongs and lay down off of your feet with your butt elevated. Use your sphincter muscle to actively try and keep the prolapse inside the anal canal. If you don’t get these prolapsed hemorrhoids reduced back inside they will get bigger and bigger and worse and worse even if they are not bleeding and you go to surgery.
Of course the advice of being sure of the diagnosis. More than one patient has thought they were bleeding from a hemorrhoid to find out they had a cancer and delay in treatment of a cancer can be deadly.

I am just now getting over having a boil near the anus. I went to the dr for it and it didn't drain as easily as one would expect so she was trying all different positions to push from. Yes, it was extremely painful! Anyway, since seeing the doctor I've gotten hemmoroids that are becoming increasingly large and bleeding. Could it be that her pushing so much on me around there has caused them, or are there now anal boils that resemble hemmoroids?

What are Hemmorrhoids?

Hemorrhoids are swollen hemorrhoidal plexuses in and around the anus and lower rectum that stretch under pressure, similar to varicose veins in the legs. Internal hemorrhoids are found just above the anal canal, while external hemorrhoids are usually visible under the skin around the anus. The presence of external hemorrhoids suggests a good probability of internal hemorrhoids also.

cause of hemorrhoids

quote:
Hemorrhoids are commonly caused by the sufferer straining to go to the toilet. The added strain on the anus and rectum causes stress on the veins in the area, which then become hemorrhoids.

Constipation and hemorrhoids often go hand in hand because constipation can result in hard stools, which are more difficult to pass and cause more straining. You may also be reluctant to go to the toilet when you feel the urge because you are worried about the pain which occurs when the stool passes by the hemorrhoids.

Low fiber diets can sometimes be to blame, as the lack of fiber makes it harder for the digestive system to propel the food through the intestines, contributing to constipation.

It is not likely that the doctor CAUSED the Hemorrhoids by treating a boil. But you need to take an aggressive approach toward managing your OWN behaviors and diet that will reduce the occurrence of Hemorrhoids.

quote:
Treatment & Prevention
The best way to prevent hemorrhoids is to 1) keep stools soft so they pass easily, thus decreasing pressure and straining, 2) to empty bowels as soon as possible after the urge occurs and 3) keep your veins strong. Exercise, including walking, and increased fiber in the diet help reduce constipation and straining by producing stools that are softer and easier to pass. Good sources of fiber are fruits, vegetables, and whole grains. Veins are strengthened by bioflavonoids.

You are correct. I mis-spoke.
