I know some of it but, if some of you nurses can help give me more insite on it id be grateful its my moms CT with contrast report.

Impressions.. 1. 3.5cmx2.7 cm mass in the upper lobe anteriorly suspicious for bronchogenic carcinoma. 2. Upper limits normal sized pretracheal lymph node reactive versus metastatic. 3. Non calcified soft tissue nodular right middle love favoring a grannuloma and a small sliding hiatal hernia also noted.

It also said that there is invasion into the mediastinal fat. Thanks

You asked for an interpretation of the results. I think you will want to sit down with an Oncologist to have him discuss this in great detail with you. But in the meantime I can tell you what the results show.

1. 3.5cmx2.7 cm mass in the upper lobe anteriorly suspicious for bronchogenic carcinoma

There is a mass of tissue about 1.3" x 1" in the upper front region or the lung that looks like it could be cancerous and originating from tissue from the bronchial tree.

2. Upper limits normal sized pretracheal lymph node reactive versus metastatic.

Cancerous cells appear not to have spread to the pretracheal lymph nodes which are lymph nodes that are in front of the trachea. The term "reactive" is often used to describe an enlarged node. This can occur when trying to fight off an infection.

3. Non calcified soft tissue nodular right middle love (lobe) favoring a grannuloma and a small sliding hiatal hernia also noted.

In the middle lobe of the lung there is a small area of tissue that looks inflammed (granuloma)but it has not become calcified (hardened) which is typical of some granulomas. The CT scan also showed a small sliding hiatal hernia. A sliding hiatal hernia is when a small portion of the stomach pushes up through the diaphragm and lies above the abdomen, inside the chest cavity. A "sliding" hiatial hernia is the most common type and is usually not serious.

Invasion into the mediastinal fat...invasion of what? If it is referring to cancerous cells it means it has spread to the chest wall.

This is a lot for you to digest and I hesitated posting here but since Karrow had it as an unanswered question I didn't want you to sit and wonder any longer than necessary.
