I seem to find so many things wrong w/myself, don't I? It's just interesting to learn things. Anyways, my left knee seems to just give out on me sometimes. I play softball so I do a LOT of squatting and bending. Sometimes when I go to lift myself up, or stand up from sitting or maybe even step up stairs or something, I'll have a sharp pain and can't go through w/the motion. It just hits suddenly, it doesn't always hurt or anything. Of course, it could be nothing, but I was just wondering if it could lead to something more serious.
You poor girl - - you certainly do seem to be falling apart at the seams!!! LOL
You ask if it could lead to something "serious" - - depends on what you mean by that. Certainly doesn't appear that it could be anything life threatening, that's for sure.
During my Senior year in high school, I experienced similar "giving out" of my knee (and yes, now that I think about it, the left one was first!!) - and it would "catch" which is what you call the pain that doesn't allow for follow-through. I had a torn cartilidge in the knee - it was something that had progressed over time (10 years of dancing school and growing tall fast) which wore on the cartilidge. I did end up having to have surgery for the removal of it and subsequently, had the other knee done as well. Now, they are able to do it through microscopic surgery - so it's a quicker recovery.
Anyway - sorry for the long response - all I am saying is - - watch it - keep track of how it feels when you are doing different things. May make sense to visit with an orthopedic specialist just so you know what you're dealing with.
Go to your doctor and he or she will probably recommend you see a bone-specialist.
SweetnSour41 I have a tip for you, just as a general rule. If you have a problem that is causing you pain: go to a doctor. We can give you ideas on what it might be and advice once you've found out for sure, but nothing is better than a professional diagnosis from a doctor. Especially since every moment that you delay could just make matters worse for you.
