About a week ago, my lower back started to hurt. I would lay on a heating pad and it helped, but every day it got increasingly worse. Today when I woke up, it was excructiating. I went to the doctor, and she ordered an MRI for Wednesday but she said she believes my way to tight hamstrings are the cause of it.

The thing is, I know they're too tight... They have been my whole life... I even tried physical therapy to help it years ago but it didn't work. So why all of the sudden would it cause this back pain? Also, I didn't fall, lift anything heavy, or anything like that.

When I got home it occurred to me that perhaps my bad acupuncturist experience earlier this month may have caused it. He put needles hooked to some electrical thing all across my lower back and it was really painful, and the sites bled so I stopped going. Is it possible that the acupuncture caused it? Thanks.

If the procedure was done incorrectly, it COULD have contributed to or exacerbated your back problems.

Are there certain positions that cause you more pain? There are various possible reasons for back pain including bone/muscle alignment, nerve compression, etc.

Actually EVERY position is painful, nothing I do makes it hurt any less. And now the pain is almost covering my whole back, and the sides of my chest.

Do you have insurance? A specialist would be a good idea to see. Get a referral from your primary physician.
