If you had a small pox vaccination back in the 1950's, is it still effective ?

the short answer is that it's not really known; the wishy-washy answer is maybe. It seems that in populations, some immunity remains up to decades later, and perhaps that those who received it earliest actually may have longer immunity, possibly because of boosters that were done then.

The current news points to: probably not, although you would have more on an immunity than I, as I was never vaccinated at all.
