I have searched the internet for information on this.
If someone would be kind enough to please explain to me, whether this could be due to a stroke that happened 1996? Why would it be happening now?
There is a definite change in personality.(approx 1 yr)(now taking meds for severe depression,anit-depressants, social anxiety disorder.
Just requested and had done MRA..Was asked from neurologist..what is this bleeding in the brain?
(Dr was reading records from same Hospital where all tests and lab work done.)That is when Dr..mumbled "organic brain syndrome."
If you could possibly give me some insight into this condition, it would be greatly appreciated.
Trying to understand my husbands psychological conditions are very tough.Drs. can't seem to explain to my satisfaction.
Hubby can not change Drs. as his meds and Drs and tests are all covered through certain program.
Thanks in advance!

Organic Brain Syndrome is an Umbrella Diagnosis that actually describes in a general way his symptoms and problems to other medical professionals. (It is similar to using the illness "Pervasive Developmental Disorder" .. and under that falls various problems such as ADD, ADHD, Autism, etc)

OBS has many causes. Cardiovascular related injuries (stroke, TIA's), Resperatory related problems (Hypoxia), Trama-induced problems, Degenerative Disorders (MS, Alzheimers, Creutzfeldt-Jacob disease, etc).

For each of these KINDS of problems there are different treatment programs. What you need to be asking is not what Organic Brain Syndrome is, but ask,"What is causing it and what is the treatment of it".

Here is a website with more information on ODS. Just read the information on the site. If you have any more questions, just post them.

Thanks Sherasi for taking the time to answer my questions and direct me to this site.
You are right..I should be asking what causes this..Have been trying to ask Docs, but they are rather vague.
Thanks again Sherasi!
