my mom and her father have (and had) scoliosis, rather severly. at least, very noticably. i am a little concerned that it is starting with me as well. i often have pain on one side between my shoulder blade and spine. it feels like a big knot of muscles and hurts a bit when i take a deep breath. are there exercises that can correct scoliosis in its early stages, and what kind of doctor should i go to? an othopedic or my regular doctor? i appreciate any ideas.
I seriously doubt Scoliosis is what you have as that normally occurs during youth as the spine is still maturing. When the bones are softer they start curving abnormally. But there is such a thing as adult scoliosis so if you are concerned with it you would want to make an appt with an Orthopedic (Bone) Surgeon.
Here is a website that tells you a little more about it and gives an address for the National Scoliosis Foundation.
