Right now I am on the prescription of Trazodone. How am I supposed to know what over the counter drugs I can use at the same time?

For example, I have a nasty cold right now. Can I take Tylenol Cold and Sinus, or Aleve cold medicine, or whatever else?

Also is taking ibuprofen at the same time as Trazodone okay?

I would have to agree with Methos. When your doctor prescribed the medicine, s/he should have asked what other drugs you were taking, or the pharmacist should have counseled you.
Either way, call one of them. Websites can give you a pretty good idea, but your doctor would be far more familiar with you personally and able to help you more specifically.

I'm sure that Indigo would check with her own doctor, but it's still good to have an informative "heads up" prior to doing so.

Doctors who prescribe these drugs are too busy learning other aspects of the Art of Healing to keep up with all of the new drugs and their interactions with other drugs. Pharmacists specialize in the art of Drugs - they constantly are learning what interacts with what when it comes to medications.

This is why it is strongly suggested you have one pharmacist for all of your drug needs from prescription to Patent Medications (AKA over the counter medications)- one who can keep tabs on all the things you take, thus preventing an accidental drug interaction caused by a Doctor mistakingly prescribing something that has a bad reaction with something you are already taking.

I would be less confident of the information on drugs on the internet simply because new data is coming in all the time.

Yeah, that was pretty much my point, too.

Taking any NSAID with Trazodone is permissible.

However, Trazodone's tri-cyclic effect will make you more apt to get a 'rebound' effect from the decongestant(s).
