for the past few of years, ive been smelling very faint burning smells.

sometimes it will be definate smells, like burnt toast, or campfire smoke, or (ew) burning hair. other times it will be just vague burning smells.
there is no rhyme or reason to when i smell things, it happens randomly; morning, lying in bed, doing laundry, watching a movie, etc.

any suggestions on why i smell burning stuff sometimes?

It sound like your nose is congested. I've had similar smells when my nose was blocked/congested.

Hey lynda... not that I agree with everything I see on the net, I thought THIS may be worth a view - just for the heck of it...or...maybe not!

My preludes to seizures come with the smell of ashes and burning rubber.

Now days I get the 'aura' as it is called but not the seizure due to my anti seizure medication.

If there is nothing physical, it could be a warning of a kind of seizure or even a seizure itself. Mind, epilepsy is much more than just the 'fits' there are many kinds, most go unnoticed or unremarked because nothing drastic happens.

Start keeping a log book on when these smells appear.

Note the date and time and also what you are doing, what is going on around you and if there are any other sensations or emotional feelings you are having at the time.

If you start seeing a pattern, stress related, or anything else that is happening, I would suggest doctor's visit. I would take your log book with you so she/he can have some idea of what is going on.

Again, epilepsy comes in many forms, it is best to have it under the care of a doctor and, if necessary, have it attended to wit medication.

I went for years and years and years with petite-mal (basically just blanking out) and I did nothing about it thinking it normal. Later in life (29) I suddenly starting having grand mal - it wasn't until we did some back-wards looking that we saw the precursors to an issue which coupled with stress, flared up into a nasty condition.
