I was just reading an article in a magazine published from an NCI (National Cancer Institute) that asked this question. The NCI stated that they were going tobe exploring this topic in the future.

With all the diferent types of cancer, is there anything, such as change of diet, exercise, thinking more positively, that can prevent a person from getting cancer?

I know this question is kind of old but I found this article that I think might be a good update.

As a female who has had a touch of breast cancer, one basal cell carcinoma, and just last month a precursor of melanoma, you can bet that I read to try to determine the answer to your question. Yes, it is advisable to eat a low-fat and nutritious diet, to get some exercise, to not smoke at all, to limit one's intake of alcoholic beverages, and to avoid the sun without sunscreen. Yet, there are so many other things which go into one's risk. High on the list is that if one had a cancer before, one is at the highest risk of those at risk to get that particular cancer again. Having a fair complexion puts one at a higher risk for skin cancer. Having multiple sex partners and/or abortions even having first sex at an early age puts a woman at a higher risk for certain cancers. I think that I got those factors accurate. Also, we now suspect that second-hand smoke and other environmental factors can cause cancer. A positive, fighting attitude is one of the most important factors in beating a bout of cancer. Well, now you have some idea why I can be so upbeat and tough when being attacked by some seemingly vicious participants. . . . Although no one has yet come out and said that one's having had one type of cancer puts one at a higher risk for getting a different type of cancer, I make no such conclusion, but I am verrrry vigilant of my body from head to toe--including the state of my heart and mind!

Here is an article on something we can find in our kitchen, the curry spice tumeric. Shows a lot of promise. But little studies have been done on it due to being so common to find. Drug companies can't make money like that.
