My friends husband is 40 years old and has problems with impotence since about 30 or so. They have tested him for diabetes and he is not. He is healthly other than slightly elevated BP. He also had low testostone so they started him on a cream that he rubs on. Once Viagra came out it helped so much. But she says they keep having to increase the dose of it now 100mg. Talk about expensive sex. Her question is would cig. smoking or moderate smoking of pot be cause of the impotence. He has been smoking both since a teenager. Leads a normal life good job not your typically drugy. She was asking me this and I had had no clue other than being checked for diabetes. He does see a urologist that checks him every year. Dr Sid what do you think?
marajuana is a well-known cause of impotence. Cigarettes can be as well in some people, by causing vasospasm (temporary narrowing of arteries). Smoking also is a factor in atherosclerosis, which causes permanent arterial narrowing and can be a cause of impotence. I'd assume that the urologist would have checked the vascular inflow.

No Sid she said that the urologist only examed him and drew blood and did a urine test. Would this be a sugestion to have a flow test done. She was concern that he does have 3 herinated disks in his lower back would this have anything to do with it? I told her to tell him to stop smoking marjuana and see what happens. Anyother suggestions? Thanks for such a quick response!
