Ok my ba Confusedby was born on December 17th and is still in the hospital, She is in the best childrens hospital in orlando but we cant seem to find out what is wrong with her, if you have seen anything like this please let us know so we can give the doctors some ideas.
She had surgery to shorten her esophogus and put in a g-tube because every time she ate she would get a bradia cardia and throw up, well the throwing up has stopped but the brady's haven't every time she eats. we have done every test imaginable spinal taps,EKG, EEG, CT SCANS,CBC AND MRI'S, CHROMOSOME, H TYPE FISTULA
and everything always comes back normal.
Now he has her on pheenabarbe because he thinks is it might be a neurological problem,
but she seems worse on that med, it makes her drowsy and her oxygen sat is real low so they have her on nasal canula.
When it happens now it is like she gags and then she has a brady, when she is eating. She always brings herself right back up. She cant throw up now because of the surgery. She eats though the tube now. He is going to see what she does on continuous feeds. She is now 1 month and 11 days old and we are dying to take her home but we know we cant till we find out what is wrong with her, she has the Doctor puzzeled. She does have a small VSD in her heart he did another ex-ray today to see if it has anything to do with that. Thank you for any ideas.

First of all I am so sorry to hear that your baby is going through such problems. I wish I could tell you the name of what I think she has...and I'm trying very hard to remember it...
I met a couple at a restaurant who's daughter had the exact same symptoms. The girl is now prob about 5 or 6. She continues to "eat" via a tube through her nose. The mother "injects" a special paste. It was a heart ailment because I remember it seemed unusual to me that heart problems affected normal eating. And she also had problems swallowing and was not even allowed to suck on ice. I'll try to do some research here and maybe the name of the ailment will come to me soon.

In the meantime, read this article - it also fits in with what you have described:

Oh Sherry I am so sorry about everything you are going thru. I don't have any information for you but I do suggest you talk to the doctors as much as possible and the nurses in the unit where she is at. Ask many questions even if you think it is something silly. Because it is not. Ask if they have any information you can read. You will be in my thoughts and prayers. I know what it is like to have a sick baby and it is so hard when your child is sick and you feel like you can't help them. Remember to take of yourself. Let us know if there is any thing we can help you with. Take care!
