Last week I found out that I need a pancreas transplant. Since then I have learned a lot about organ donation and the need to promote organ donation. Just talking about it does not help. Just putting it on your driver's license may not do the trick.

Please help me get the word out...Everyday 77 people receive donor organ transplants, Everyday 19 people DIE WAITING. We all know that more than 96 die everyday.

Here are a couple of websites to check out if you have questions or want to learn more:

www.organdonor.gov
www.unos.org

The donation of your organs can save 50 lives. Fifty families that would not lose their loved one...fifty grateful people...fifty lives, besdies, what are we going to do with them after we're dead???

This is a subject many people don't want to talk about, but do...PLEASE DO! At work, at church at the motorcycle run, at the baseball game, AND especially with your family!

You never know who's life may be saved...yours, your child's your mother',s your father's-who knows??? It is an international issue and everyone is affected somehow, some way!

My organs are up for grabs, but please wait until I am dead and no longer using them.

However this post does add a thing to ask my doctors, if in my condition my organs are donatable, or if some are. I know bone marrow is most likely out of the question...

!

Just curious. One can live without a Pancreas. Why would one have a Pancreas transplant done?
