Quite obviously, there are some changes to upgrades. I apologize for taking so long to award the well-deserved upgrades, and for the necessary change in how it's now done. The list of the numbers of each member's quality posts is no longer available, so I have to start the list from scratch. This entails reading each post for each person. Since that will take a while, I feel it best to announce upgrades as I do them rather than waiting until they are all done. What I will do then is to edit this post to include the newer upgradees.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Congratulations to
Dodgecity - Bronze Enthusiast
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
People who feel that they, or someone they know, is overdue for an upgrade, should e-mail me with the name at my screen name AT gmail.com. While I try to look at those closest to an upgrade first, there are a great many members now, and I could easily overlook someone close until near the end of compiling a new list. Please remember, however, that it is the number of quality posts that determine upgrades.

Below, I am posting the minimum number of posts required to reach the six Enthusiast grades.

Enthusiast = 200 posts
Bronze Enthusiast = 300 posts
Silver Enthusiast = 500 posts
Gold Enthusiast = 750 posts
Platinum Enthusiast = 1500 posts
Diamond Enthusiast = 2500 posts

Give the man a call dg
He's gone back to the Pre AP method Which route I had to get on the ladder (after being PM'ed by another member) to put my name forward.

Only difference now is it is All Levels that need to inform Admin to check the record for an upgrade
And I'm sure our senior members will give Admin a dig in the ribs if they believe somebody has been overlooked Roll Eyes I'll be vigilant for these stragglers Smile

PS. SR & DG Dodge is still showing as an Enthusiast! Please update

"And your eyeballs won't be as overworked as before?"

No, my eyeballs will still have to read every post, but if people e-mail me with member's status and total posts, I can see who should be checked first. Don't think of what I am asking as nominations, just as reminders.

to reach Diamond enthusiast (2500 posts), just how long in time does it take.

I am assuming "Diamond" in relation to a wedding anniversary would take 60-weeks and not 60-years.

Anyone know the average time it takes to get diamond, or am I missing something here?

I can see from the number of posts that Bedstor and Dorian both sleep on this website Eek

Roll Eyes

Please remember that it is the number of quality posts, not the number of total posts, that are counted for upgrades. I have no idea how long the average member takes to get an upgrade.

Note: I have been behind on upgrading, but the fall upgrades are being worked on now.

(An old saying, that some charter members will remember, is that "DorianGreyed never sleeps." I'm a bit older now, and try to get a little now and then.Big Grin)

Ignoring that last remark!

How long did I take to make Diamond?
Well When this site started up we had all our old enthusiast grade carried over from Jeeves
I think I was a Bronze at the time But there were several Diamonds here already

And in the early days of the site we actually seeded a few categories and answers and So answered a lot of questions logging up the quality answer totals(which are what count Towards the next level)
and I went Diamond a few years ago...Just kept answering what I could Have a little comment try to improve others replies...I enjoy it. Smile
And to think like lots of the original members
the Journey to Now started with a small link om wwww.ask.com labelled "Ask other People" which led to Answerpoint where I saw an unanswered question to which I knew the answer having lived close by ...So I resistered,answered the question in about 1 sentence...and I was surprised to get a thank you Post Smile and I looked around for more and answered them and the rest is history when that Forum closed in 2002. I was on Top of 2 section Leagues though the method of Enthusiast selection was by asking the section Moderators (whom we never knew Frown) Once you has alerted the Moderator you got a green ribbon Rosette

And I did envy those people with "Diamonds" and 10,000 posts against there name and I had the same thought as you "Can rever do that!"

and I just plugged away day after day and started going up the ranks ....and Surprised myself Frankly Smile

And I post too on a Uk computer forum plus www.discussionpool.com (our sister site) and a few odd forums so I have (at time of posting this) 11700 posts here, DP 6500, www.webuser.co.uk 3600.Perhaps 500 in other forums. And 2000? from Jeeves(Answerpoint)
Making a provisional total of 24300 Big Grin

It seems that I asked this question in the past and was told at the time that everybody started from scratch. If memory serves me correctly I had some where in the range of 1100 post at Jeeves and started from scratch on this site.

As I recall, members brought over their rank from Jeeves, but the AnswerPool scale was used for upgrades. (It really wasn't hard to get a top ranking in a specific area at Jeeves. I had a gold in Sports based on my five or ten answers about boxing. Don't ask me questions about most major sports.)
