I have a 29 gallon cold water aquarium. It currently houses 3 inhabitants (a 2 inch fantail goldfish, a 2.5 inch long leopard pleco and a 2.5 inch long weather loach), as well as some plastic plants, and has a strong Fluval filter, as well as the customery 25% water change once a week. A second goldfish (3 inches, 6 years old) died in late October and now I am sure there is no disease and the water is stable, I am considering adding another small fancy goldfish and another "other fish", probably a pleco. Would that be too many fish for the size of the tank? Would two plecos in that size tank attack eachother? I know they like to be solitary... I do not want minnows, but am otherwise open to suggestions for what kind of fish, too (I love sucker fish!).

Thanks Tree!
I ended up getting a juvenile Hillstream Loach, but it died after 4 days; I think the stress of travelling internationally to the wholesaler, then to the shop, then to me was just too much.

I've done some reading on Loaches.Com and apparently Weather Loaches like company, so I have asked my petshop to special order me 2 more weather loaches.

I've always like Loaches. They are quite the cuties. Smile

I bought two more weather loaches on Friday. They seem to be doing well!

The two new loaches are quite small (1.5 and 2 inches), and the smaller one is thin-ish, but not overly so. They are grey rather than the golden colour of my oldtimer. The two newbies often sit together the way I read about, but the oldtimer seems to prefer his own company- I hope I haven't changed his behaviour irrevokably by keeping him alone for 3+ months!
