How long do freshwater fish usually live.... I'm talking about the pet ones. I'm not sure what kind of fish these are, but my sister has a few fish and they've been dying lately. She feeds them regularly and the water is clean. They are 1 year old. What could be the reason?

There are many reasons fish die. Overfeeding will kill your fish. The fish could have a disease or other health problem. Sometimes one fish in the tank attacks another one. (not all fish are compatible) I once had my Dempsey fish eat his little fish friend. And I thought they liked each other!
