My son is going to buy about 6 goldfish. I do not like to see little goldfish bowls with the fish swimming in ever decreasing circles, and want to buy a tank. What size is recommended for 6 goldfish?

The Goldfish Sactuary web site http://www.petlibrary.com/goldfish/examples.htm explains how to calculate the size of tank that you will need. The site also has pages of advice on the care of goldfish that you should find helpful.

It depends on the size of the goldfish. Six small (inch or so) goldfish can be kept in a 10 gallon with no problems, but they do grow so you'll need to provide them with a larger home eventually. Invest in the largest aquarium that you can afford. Also a point to consider is the type of goldfish you are going to get. Common goldfish generally get larger. Personally they are my favorite. Smile Good luck!
