I don't understand the logic behind a lot of the gifts, myself but I did not create the list. they're just what's evolved for 'traditional' gifts....Paper, by the way, can be an amazing present...Concert tickets, airline/cruise tickets, Automobile titles and any number of other very desirable items are made of paper!

Although I have not had the pleasure of experiencing marital bliss. My mother told me that in the early years that she and my father were married things were often tight. Some of the "gifts of the heart" that he gave to her where more meaningful and created fonder memories than those that a lot of money could buy. One year he suprised her with a picnic lunch in the park, one that he had packed himself with her favourite foods and a nice bottle of wine and a reading of a poem that he had written just for her. As the years past and their finances grew they still continued their practice of giving from their hearts. Even if you give a gift of diamonds or gold, why not give them to him or her wrapped in copy of your marriage vows or up in a hot air balloon to make it more memorable. These things would touch my heart. Happy Anniversary to both of you.
Wonderful list Mrs.S I'm sure that will come in handy. Perhaps when the list was designed the inbetween years that are not listed could fall under the year listed before reaching the next milestone. Just a thought.
Yes, LB, if you get married and stay married to the same person for 60 years, you get diamonds! I recently had the chance to get a diamond tie tack for a friend's grandpa,(tiny diamond, but very dignified setting) to match the pendant my friend got for her grandma...the lists are not just "Husband to Wife" they are "suggestions" (not mandates) for anyone wishing to give the couple an anniversary gift.
