I'm guessing it's Fred's house, and if I'm wrong, it really doesn't matter because this isn't really a trivia question.

By the way, great picture, Bedstor. Can you see the little sign by the window?

Fred Dibnah
This looks interesting, Bedstor. do you think it will be turned into a museum?

I tried to look at the house..in your post, but it wasn't there.
(Neither was your diamond!)

Your clues are getting trickier..now that they are invisible. Wink

There's no link deliberately and it is Fred Dibnahs House dg
DG This is the only Famous Fred in Bolton

quote:
Fred's house, in Radcliffe Road, The Haulgh, was his home for 40 years and comes complete with a working mineshaft and a steam-powered workshop.

Who was he have a look though these Videos and there are a lot of his House here too
The three-bedroom cottage, which dates back to 1851, is being advertised as a "unique property of distinction and recent history".

And the price they are asking is quite reasonable
I agree they should have made something better of this man ...He's getting a statue made, and thats it. Frown

And He speaks in a broad Bolton/Lancashire accent if you have your sound switched on?

The unique feature is a 30ft mine shaft in the back garden. Fred Dibnah was an institution in this area and will be sadly missed.

Mine shafts in yards (gardens) is hardly unique, although it is unusual. I imagine that any area developed over or near former mines has some. I know of a few in nearby Collinsville and Highland, Illinois. In fact, one in Collinsville leads to Highland, about 10 miles away.

The links below are to mentions of mineshafts in yards.

That's what you said, Bedstor. I might add, without any punctuation, but more to the point, no photographic clue to the question, as was suggested.

I am sure Fred Dibnah is famous in your part of the world, but please remember, the majority of the people here are from North America, and believe it or not, have never heard of him.

This isn't a trivia question either. Fred's is an interesting house, but hardly unique.

The difference in Fred's mineshaft is that he built it himself. It is nothing to do with the mining industry. The house is unique as houses go,it is far from the normal residences round these parts. But as DG says, it isn't really trivia. However, is anyone is interested, Fred's life makes very colourful reading, especially with my interest in the cotton mills and chimneys he felled in his lifetime. I met him quite a few times at agricultural shows when we were showing our pair our shire horses. He was usually there with one of his collection of traction engines.
