The inflation multiplier for 1983 is 2.3 (to 2006). So £1-00 in 1983 is a shade over 230 pence now:
The site gives several different ways of calculating value differences over time. Don't think any is a property price index. That would be alarming. The average house price in Britain has trebled in ten years, never mind twenty-five !
