I do not have a link for this even the Wikipedia item does not list this
But Its worth posting because it was funny and serious at the same time and if you find a Link with the info can you post it Here Thanks?

MY question is what was originally sized from eggcup to Challenge (just 4 sizes) in the Mid 1930s (Possibly 1937?) Item dates back a long time beyond this
But these days the same item has a different scale for precision sizes Smile

I would guess you are describing the 4 cup sizes that Warner came up with for the bra in 1935. They were A-D and I did a little digging and found that they were nicknamed egg cup, tea cup, coffee cup, and challenge cup according to this article.

Interesting bedstor, Smile I have never heard that "arm protector" version. The real term in French for a bra is a "Soutien-Gorge"

A "brassiere " could be a shirt for newborn made of wool that ties up in the back or when the first bras appeared ,women had to lift their arms up high, and get them through the "belts".... so the term "BRASsiere" could have some sense in that way. But "Protector"??? Could be an old piece of equipment for knights and soldiers or something like that. I'll research it.
