In a few weeks 15 men are Starting out from a Location in Cardiff (South Wales) and they have to reach a corresponding Location in North London in under 138 Hours.

Can be driven in a few hours easy Drive Or walked within that time But they have a Sports related task to perform and Many people say It cannot be done
I too am sceptical about how they'll do it

So everybody what are they aiming to do in 138 Hours ?

Wales' national game is rugby. There are 15 in a rugby union team. My guess is that they propose to run, passing the ball between them, between the National Stadium, Cardiff and the new National Stadium , Wembley, London (if the two points are similar in name) or the first and Twickenham international rugby ground, London (if the two points are similar in purpose) Smile

Hmm. The Vetch Field doesn't exist any more ! It was the home ground of Swansea City FC, a venue I used to visit years ago , to watch the 'Swans' play. The 'local derby' between them and the 'Bluebirds' (Cardiff City FC) was a big event at Christmas. The club moved to a new stadium , the Liberty Stadium, at Morfa, in 2005 Smile

Vetch is a leguminous plant, 'common vetch'.

The old Vetch Field ground would have been the football ground which was the farthest west of all the 92 club grounds in the English (and Welsh, in that two Welsh clubs are in it) league.Ninian Park, home to Cardiff City FC is the next most westerly

Portman Road, Ipswich, the home ground of Ipswich Town FC is, just, the most easterly of them. (Colchester's ground is west of it by a tiny margin of longitude)

138 hours is quite a long time in travelling. If the idea is to go from West to East that seems a great deal of time:Vetch Field to Portman Road is 275 miles, a rate for distance of 2 mph, a slow walking pace.

A visit to each of the 92 clubs in the League would take a lot longer on foot !It might be possible by train, coach or car in 138 hours but it would involve going as far as Plymouth Argyle in the South West, as far North West as, say, Liverpool, as far to the North East as somewhere like Sunderland and as far to the South East as Brighton and Hove plus visiting the myriad clubs in between.Still, if you could average 30 mph that would make about 4,000 miles, which should be enough.

The clubs referenced in your post are in the same division. A visit to all in that division would reduce the visits to 22 but could still involve some big journeys !

I'll go for it being an attempt at visiting all 92 Smile

15 is a strange number for soccer. The governing body now allows 5 substitutes of whom 3 can be used in play, so a team on the road would be 16.

Well, it may be that they added the grounds that have been used in the history of the League. If so let's hope they use the modern league. Otherwise they'll be visiting a lot of places that are now military establishments (The Arsenal was at Woolwich arsenal) or housing (Liverpool, Southampton and several others started on ground since built on many years ago) and so on Smile

Thanks CF. There's a hint of a 'Bedstor question' here. Bedstor, where did you find any reference to Vetch Field , Swansea, in Coldfuse's link (or anywhere) reporting this story? The story is of these people visiting every professional stadium.

Vetch Field is'nt a professional stadium. It's been demolished and Swansea have moved to a new stadium, the Liberty Stadium, in a different place . Roll Eyes

The answer was every Professional Football League stadium in England/wales(92) plus all the League grounds in Scotland, also the 4 National stadia where the regional Cup Finals are played (Including Windsor Park Belfast..thats the odd stadium) They did not include the Irish League nor the League of Wales clubs on the list
