I ask this question, because I am exposed to the computer all day long at work. And then a couple hours afterwards. I know they say that radiation levels from TV's are not good for you, is that a myth? And what about computers, I know alot of people stay on the internet all nite long, couldn't that be harmful? I talking healthwise, physically, not emotionally. That's a whole different subject, lol.

Yes computers are extremely dangerous, never, ever turn your back on them, they will pounce and attack ripping out your hair, eyes and throat.

No but seriously. Cathode tube (TV/Monitors are cathode ray tubes) Radiation is minimal, way so much so to be almost very nearly undetectable against back ground radiation.

The manner in which a monitor/TV screen prevents a lot of the ionizing radiation from escaping the screen. Indeed, if it escaped the screen then there would be no picture. It is the bombardment of the electrons on the material inside the tube which gives us the pretty pictures we see.

Computers dangerous-LOL-well soaringhorse the way I look at it is this way-its not the computers that are the problem, its usually the people behind the screen! Radiation damage is never a problem-of course I have been wondering about those horns I am developing on my head Big Grin

Thanks for all the info about this, I know it sounded like a stupid question, but I didn't want any radiation frying me, lol.
Cyberlaol, I agree whole-heartedly that it can be the person running the computer. It can be used as a weapon sometimes. I know what you mean about horns sprouting, was lmao when you said that. I have them trying to emerge also, but keep on thinking....goood thoughts, goood thoughts. I want to post some pretty blunt posts sometimes, and even do, but then I hit delete, because maybe if I did say it, it would come back on me later on, you know? It's so hard to behave, lol.

While radiation should not be a concern, Repetitive Stress Injury is a more likely danger.

Hi Northwind Dagas! Nice to see ya again. Smile

Thanks for the links, I checked them out, they are very helpful. I agree sitting at the computer all the time does make the body rigid, I really get back aches especially, so I try moving around at work alot, since I'm not totally chained to the desk, lol. It's been over 6 years doing this type of work, but I have a better job than data, that was a killer. At least now, I have more movement, and paperwork to organize, yucckkk, lol.

Just a little update on this post. Found this about how glaucoma is linked to nearsightedness and working with computers:

MSNBC.com

I have a glaucoma test done annually, and one time it came up as a false positive, and my eye doctor did a more extensive test, which came out okay. Sure scared me with the initial test, though. I hate the glaucoma test, (where they send a puff of air to your eye, not fun at all.) But the other test was easy, just tests with a little box, after the doctor inserts these yellow eyedrops. It measures the pressure in your eye, and she just moves it around your eyes, no big deal.
