I was sorta thinking that you were also, but felt that it was your own business. Smile

My best friend is also Gay. He and his partner have been together for about 3 years. Monolith only 'came out' to me when we were both about 24 years old. I'd known him for about a decade and I was quite surprised. He is NOT a stereotype at all. His family is EXTREMELY back-country you-DON'T-do-that-sort-of-thing people.

At any rate, welcome to AP. Smile

I expect you have , Lynnie.

I'm sure others will let you know. I think nobody around here is going to be coy about it.Some certainly talk about their sexuality, as and when, and may discuss questions relating to gay relationships and so on.

Hi guys...I just found this post. I totally forgot that I posted this!
I am glad to know there is family here, and also very happy to know that we are welcome.
Hey, you never know. Some people are against it you know. Hard to imagine in this day and age.
My gf and I have been together for 7 years. We met, yes...via internet. Neither one of us intentionally was looking for anyone, it just sort of happened. She was from NC at the time. After a while she moved to Mass, to live with me. We lived together for one year and then decided to move south, to Myrtle Beach, SC. We have been living here since Nov. of 2002. When we moved here, we had one 9 month old Pomeranian, Syndi. Now we have a zoo.
We have been together for a while now. I have to admit we have had our ups and downs, it hasn't been easy, that is for sure, but then again, what relationship is.
This is the longest I have ever been in a realtionship. I still can't believe I up and left my home and moved here. I have never done anything like that in my life. I am a kind of a SAFE person. I totally took a chance with this one, that is for sure.
Well...that's is for now. Questions are welcome!! LOL

Seven years together? Then you did the right thing, you 'safe person ' you ! Smile

I don't know how cultures differ, but I can remember a female gay couple living happily in this small village .They'd been there long before I was born (1947) and were there for decades afterwards right up to when they retired from work and went to live by the sea in Suffolk. Nobody ever remarked on it, everybody knew the relationship for what it was, but it was thought nothing worthy of any comment.Their relationship was just part of life.Perhaps it was in the nature of country people to be like that .They didn't need to come out. Nobody ever thought they were in !

Nobody asked me, but I and my current wife have been a heterosexual team for 65 years on the 11th of this month. We also have gay friends of both genders, for more years than it's been fashionable. I'd be very surprised if the occasional homophobe rears its ugly head on these forums. They have long-since worn out their welcomes, IMHO. Wink

Welcome to AP, Lynnie! I hope, in time, that you will find us all to be extended family, gay or straight.

The Mrs. and I have been happily married for the length of time that frankvan was two years prior to my birth.

"Sir,

You report that the next [national] census will ask people their sexual orientation.Only four choices are offered: heterosexual, gay, bisexual or other.

As with surveys about so many other matters, those of us who are retired are once again ignored.

Robert Rouse,
Colwyn Bay, Conwy.
December 8th"

A letter in today's [London] Times ( Big Grin )

South Cambridgeshire Council sent out a questionnaire for a housing survey. That offered us : "Are you a) male, or b) female ? Note: tick [check] one only".Decisions, decisions (necessary in a County whose City has a transexual mayor )

It's interesting to speculate on the utility of this question. As just a regular hetero fem, I really don't care about what my fellow-citizens do in their spare time. And I don't care if some fellow-citizen considers it's own self to be both male and female. Or one or the other. Or neither.

As long as they take responsibility for their dogs. Wink

We might ask the same about the question concerning sexual orientation in the British national census. We have one about religion in that as well. Our governments, both local and national, have gone far beyond asking the questions in the first national censuses of the C19.Those were only about names , ages and occupations. That gave the questioner numbers and some idea of occupancy and the class of people in any given street or area.

Now it is considered important to know how many Sikh gays there are in Manchester.

Cambridgeshire requires people to be decisive. The Council must think it needs to know the composition of households, with a view to planning for the needs of the community, and settled gender assignment is significant to them Big Grin The mayor of the county city , and their partner (another transexual) have decided, so the locals are expected to have done the same. Smile
