Do you think that cross-dressing for just 'one' day would promote homosexuality?
A Texas school called off a day of traditional cross-dressing after one Mom complained this year that the tradition could promote homosexuality.
The cross-dressing tradition began some years back as a kind of Sadie Hawkins Day where girls ask boys to go out on dates.
Very interesting story here ********************************************************** 11-22-04, 06:53 PM DvdGStwrt In this instance yes. The complaining mother would, if she dressed like a man, suddenly become an incurable lesbo and due to this I strongly suggest that she never, ever wears pants. Roll Eyes
See this is the ignorant dumb bull hockey that I have tired of. Ignorance is one thing, this is pure stupidity based on not understanding that one can not make a person gay or straight or turn a boy into a girl by putting that boy in a dress. The Complaining woman must be one of those uneducated people you hear about, born with a brain but lost it somewhere and is incurably stupid and lets themselves believe all manner of things which have no facts to back them up.
What is sadder than that is that the Board of Education showed its inability to promote scientific thought and stand out as an educated group who should have Pooh-poohed the notion that dressing one day in the other genders clothing makes the sexual orientation. But then the Board of education doesn't care about education any longer, it cares more about appeasing this ignorant backwater superstitious fear mongers than it does in promoting science and education to the ones who need it most (usually the parents).
So there are many here at fault and I am just happy that:
1. I do not live in Texas. 2. That I do not have to deal with an education system that is as prone to fall into the dark ages. (great side effect of not being allowed to adopt - Its a favor really, thanks y'all who made that possible) 3. I'm not Fundamentally ignorant of how people work. 4. I'm not Terrified of sexuality to the extreme of flights of fantasy based upon mythology. 5. I'm not the one who is Having to explain to this woman that she is in serious need of an education.

11-22-04, 09:59 PM clarebear Cross-dressing does not define sexual preference.
Most of human history men have worn "dresses" and "skirts" the Pant is a relatively new fangled invention. Even 300 years ago (1600's) men wore pantaloons and knickers (what is what women wear today? - knickers Hmmmm)
So if we are what we wear, I have to wonder about those Gladiators (wearing mini dresses - AKA tunics), the Greeks, the Romans, Christ Himself who is often depicted in a full length dress (robe). Even the popular images of God have God wearing a Dress:
Maybe that means God is really gay?
11-22-04, 11:56 PM gerry Cross dressing of this sort has nothing to do with homosexuality, and cannot of course alter one's sexuality. For one to complain about this practice on such grounds is pure ignorance. However, this practice has everything to do with stupidity. Not so much for the girls, I mean, you can't do much with a shirt, pants, and a pair of boxers, white sox and sneakers), but for a boy to wear high heels, panty hose, and a mini skirt over his thongs is, in my humble opinion, just plain stupid. Maybe I'm just old school: In my youth, boys (and men)never wore not even shorts on a hot summer day, let alone necklaces and earrings. The times, they are a' changin'.

11-23-04, 07:24 AM wzlwmn I just want to put in my plug for men in skirts. The Highland Games changed my life. Big Grin ditto LMAO on the incurable lesbo. Someone should tell TX Mom that she should be careful about having Will & Grace commercials on the tv when her sons and husband are around, because everyone knows how the gay tv cooties can jump thru the screen. TX, it's a whole 'nother country. (As if I can talk in the capital of Bubba-dom.) wzlwmn
11-23-04, 09:46 AM clarebear Gay TV cooties can jump through the screen?OMG quick somebody spray me!!!! Wink
Jusork sums up the whole idea best: Roll Eyes
11-23-04, 12:29 PM gizmogram Somehow it doesn't surprise me that this happened in Texas. Roll Eyes
11-23-04, 12:39 PM coldfuse I can't even get my son to wear an old sheet to a Latin Club toga party because it has some lace on it. Imagine if I tried to send him out wearing my ... er, I mean my wife's ... pumps?
11-24-04, 06:39 AM gerry And then there's the one about the boy who, on cross-dress day, obligingly put his hair in a pony-tail, wore his mom's gold earings and 18 inch neck chain, took off his socks and dressed in a pair of brightly colored above the knee shorts.....only to be disqualified and sent home for dressing up too much like a ...er, ... a boy. Pass the harmonica, please, for unisex has arrived, the times , they are 'a changin'.
