This is a special day for fathers, and I'll be calling my dad in the UK later today.Smile

If you are a father, what does it mean to you?

What memories do you have of your own father?

My first father's day was 26 years ago. I can't believe time has flown that fast. My 6 month-old daughter gave me a bottle of Remy Martin VSOP cognac...see, I had already taught her to have good taste. Being a father for me has been an absolute rollercoaster of emotions, but I wouldn't trade it for anything.

As for my father, ask me in another 20 years.

I think I played this carelessly . On Thursday, my daughter said that 'this weekend' there was something called 'Father's Day'. I'd not heard of it and said that it may be an American festival, to which she quickly replied "Ah, well, in that case I won't get you anything" (And she hasn't) Big Grin

Fred, didn't you stop to think that she might have 'played' you? I think you were set up for that one! Big Grin

My girl? NEVER ! She's incapable of such a thing.Where would she inherit such a trait from? Surely not from her mother ? Roll Eyes Confused Impossible!

In truth, it would have been a 'first'. Father's Day is not celebrated here , nobody in my family, nor anyone I know, has ever given or received cards or presents on it.Mothering Sunday is another matter entirely.

Anyway, hardly anyone in this village knows who their father is. Smile

My great grandchildren, Michael, 8 and Claire, 5 called to wish me a happy father's day and I asked them what they did for their father, and they said they took him to a movie and lunch. What movie did he get to see? Kung Fu Panda! And then they took him to a chinese restaurant because that's what Pandas eat. You learn something new every day. Fatherhood is great! Wink

You always make me smile, Frank. Smile

I called my dad in England. My sisters took him and my mum out for dinner tonight. I miss him so much. He just seems so old and tired now, when I talk to him on the phone.
I wish I could have been with him today.

Holy cow, jr ! You must know my Mum. Even when she finally lets my Dad have a turn on the phone, I can hear her there in the background, telling him what to say and what questions to ask me Big Grin
